Intellectual and political biography of one of the most important figures of the town of Figueres (Alt Empordà) in the local context and in the field of republican Catalanism before the Civil War. Josep Puig Pujades (politician, literate, cultural activist and trader) is the main renovator of the republican Empordà that linked the old federal tradition with the progressive Catalanism of the first third of the twentieth century. His extensive journalistic and literary production allows him to discover the important ideological role that he developed as an intellectual with the aim of creating a civic-cultural project as a transformative tool of society through the promotion of education and culture.
